Introduction On Silicone Pipe Cleaning

Silicone pipes and bongs, what's not to love?

They are cheap to buy, easy to use and impossible to break even when you're blazed.

But unlike your traditional glass pipes and bong, when it comes to cleaning, silicone ones are not as easy to deal with, the silicone surface and tubes inside can, and will become quite oily after your smoking or dabbing session.

On today's article, we'll go through a few tricks that's been tested and proved to be very efficient when it comes to cleaning your silicone pipes and bongs after use.

How Often Should You Clean Your Silicone Pipe?

I would say you need to clean them every time after use.

Just like unwashed dishes, it might seem fine at first, but if you let your silicone pipes and bongs unwashed for a couple of day and you try to use them again, you'll definitely find the smell funny and it could easily ruin your dabbing or smoking session to come.

What You'll Need To Clean Your Silicone Pipe or Bong:

  • Dishwasher
  • Dish Soap
  • Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Pair Of Gloves
  • A Lemon
  • A Pot
  • A Piece of Cloth or A Towel

The Dishwasher Method- Good For Silicone Pipes And Dab Rigs For Dabs

That's right, when it comes to cleaning filthy dishes and silicone pipes and bongs, my number one go-to method of cleaning them is put them in my good old dish-washer.

It sounds quite counterintuitive, but most of the silicone pipes and bongs are actually dishwasher safe, simply put them on the top rack of your dishwasher, add some dish soap or detergent, and run it for a few cycles just like you would with your dishes.

The dish washer method is particularly effective if you're using your silicone pipe or dab rig for cannabis oil and wax, the oily residue will be removed quite nicely and your pipes/bongs will smell nice, well, just like your freshly done dishes :)

Using the dishwasher is the best for light used pipes and bongs.

Use Lemon Juice/Vinegar And Hot Water

First, boil a pot of hot water ( the amount of water depends on how big your pipe or bong is ) and place your silicone pipe into it, then squeeze half an lemon or put in a few table spoon of vinegar to mix with the water.

Let it rest for about 10 minutes then put on some gloves and use a towel or sponge to give your pipe/bong a good scrub, then let it air dry.

Repeat the process if you can still see or smell something funny out of your pipe.

The Baking Soda Method

What You Will Need: One Pair Of Gloves Some Baking Soda, A Piece Of Cloth Or Towel

First you'll need to put on some gloves, presoak the silicone pipe or bong, then use a piece of cloth or towel to dip some baking soda then start to rub it onto the pipe till it forms a thin layer of bubbles.

Repeat til you get all the surface of the pipe scrubbed then place the pipe into the sink and soak it with rest of the baking soda water for a couple of hours.

After soaking, rinse the pipe under running water for a while and now your silicone pipe or dab rig is ready to go again!

The Boiling Method - For Some Real Dirty Boi

If you use your silicone pipe or bong daily, there is a big possibility that all kinds of goo had been building up inside for quite a while.

If you tried the previous cleaning methods that we've mentioned above and you still can't get your pipe sparkly clean, then you have to try this kinda extreme approach: boil the heck out of it!

First you'll need a pot full of water, put it on a stove and boil it, put your silicone pipe or bong in when it's boiling and leave it continue to boil for at least 10 minutes.

When you starting to see some dark, tar like material floating on the surface of the boiling water, don't worry, it means you're doing it right.

Don't worry about your silicone pipe getting deformed in this process, silicone is a type of material that can withstand a huge amount of heat being applied to it, you can point the flame of your butane torch towards it and it won't deform, so boiling water won't do any damage to the pipe whatsoever.
