Sherlock pipes, on the other hand, are iconic because of their arched stem. Just below the stem of Sherlock pipes, there is a bowl used to heat and hold the product to be used. Thereafter, the smoke that emanates from heating the product moves up the stem of the glass pipe. In some instances, Sherlock pipes may have overly long stems, in this case, it is referred to as Gandalf pipe-from the fictional character as developed by J.R.R Tolkien. Some Sherlock pipes have carburetors, though not a standard requirement.
